Why so many people are switching back to soap bars!

I would like to share this post with you which previously appeared in THESKIUREIN blog… I have to admit I am a convert. Read on any you will understand why. Oh yes…you can also take advantage of the promo code you’ll find!

We have heard this time and time again….if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

FullSizeRender_5Innovation and practicality are at the forefront of all beauty products. Skincare companies are constantly trying to out do one another with the next best thing to prevent  signs of aging and arid skin. But what if all of this “innovation” was unnecessary?

What if all we have to do is look back and see what our grandmothers where doing 50 years ago? Because let’s face it, who needs more chemicals and artificial solutions in their life?

Soap bars, beauty bars, shower bars, face bars….whatever you want to call them, are having an immense comeback in the beauty industry. You will literally find soaps on the market made with most things you would find in your refrigerator…from natural butters and oils, to milk and honey…right down to the fruits and vegetables.

Why you should switch to a natural soap bar FullSizeRender.jpg

  • We understand  why soap bars have a bad reputation; bacteria can form on the bar…at least that’s what we hear. In reality, a soap bar will have much less bacteria than the sponge you are using with your liquid soap in the shower, and whatever small amount of bacteria it has, it can easily be washed off by rinsing it once before using it. The same cannot be said about your shower sponge.
  • In addition many liquid soaps, and most  big commercial soap bars (like the one FullSizeRender_1that rhymes with Love) contain surfactants (which by the way are also used in herbicides), that suspend oil and dirt particles so they are easier to wash away. Other commercial soaps have a high Ph and therefore can dehydrate skin rather than nourish it. Skin is in effect naturally acidic, having a Ph of around 5,  with 1 being very acidic and 14 very alkaline. This being said, finding a neutral, all-natural beauty bar is essential for the health of your skin.
  • Let’s not forget, there are also centuries of tradition and craftsmanship in soap making. You will find hundreds of soap recipes on line that will easily allow you to manufacture soap bars at home, and not many that will teach you to manufacture liquid soaps. This is because to do so you would need harsher ingredients, that may also be dangerous or cause adverse reactions when combined with other ingredients. . It may take a few tries to master soap bar making, but it can be done.
  • In addition, the only main difference between the liquid soaps you will find on the market is mostly the packaging, and perhaps the fragrance, while with soaps the choice is truly endless. Besides the contents of your refrigerator 🙂 , you will find soap bars containing pure essential oils, exotic butters, botanical and herbal ingredients.
  • The soap bar also tends to last longer than any liquid soap bar you will leave in your washroom. To avoid wasting a soap bar, we can suggest to cut a regular sized bar into 3 or 4 portions…especially if you are buying one of the more expensive, premium quality natural bars you don’t want to waste.

A natural soap bar will also be more eco-friendly than any liquid soap. Not only does the manufacturing process of a hand made product mostly use nature derived ingredients, manufacturers will also tend to use recyclable packaging, and much less of it compared to liquid soaps.

Considering the stringent rules we now have to abide to when travelling, soap bars are practical to travel with as well, particularly if they are multi-functional and can be used for hair and skin.

FullSizeRender_3.jpgThey are also a great gift idea, because not only are they useful, they also tend to smell really great! As a matter of fact, notice this; whenever you gift a soap the first thing one will do is smell it!
